Pages 76 & 77
Welcome to the first entry of many to come in my Pep Talk photo series!
For my first entry I photographed subject Megan Peterson for the following entry on pages 76 & 77 of Lin-Manuel Miranda's book 'Gmorning, Gnight.'
"Gmorning!
Write a bit, just for yourself.
Give that maelstrom in your head a place to land.
Look at everything swirling around in there!
Write some thoughts down for yourself.
Grab what you can, pin it to the page.
Look at that! How long have you been hanging on to those?
G'night!"
THE STORY: This was a fun shoot with a long time friend, who herself is a writer so I thought of Megan as soon as I read this entry! Megan is currently a ghost writer for a NYC fashion & lifestyle blogger and is an aspiring screen writer. Her parents' new house with a wooded back yard was the perfect backdrop for this episode. We met up just before sunset to capture the sun's daily gift to us: golden hour, which gives that beautiful halo effect around a subject's head. I really wanted to utilize a typewriter in one of my series' shoots and lucky for me, Megan's dad had an old electrical typewriter stored away!
FEEDBACK: The point of this series is to help me grow as a photographer so my feedback from the first shoot after enrolling in Amy and Jordan's shooting and editing course is to eliminate the sun haze from a few of these photos in camera & on location!
