These entries in Lin Manuel's "Good Morning, Good Night" made me think of one thing in particular, especially after recently becoming an Aunt twice over! My sister and brother-in-law had their second son on January 19 and with two little ones now, my sister has been dealing with the stress of an ever-messy home. She reminds herself that these are the moments to treasure and that she will one day miss the mess but sometimes it's hard to spend the time cleaning one night to find it looking just the same as before the next night.
I thought this set of "pep talks" finds the beauty in the sometimes messiness of living, growing and learning.
My nephew LOVES his toys and spends at most 5 minutes with one toy before moving on to the next. I love watching him talk to his toys...or for his toys. It reminds me of when my sister and I would make up elaborate backstories for our barbie dolls and polly pockets. He is learning his colors, shapes and vocabulary from each of those toy story characters, kinetic sand, puzzles, and even those silly videos with the obnoxious sound tracks. A lot of toys, a lot of mess and a whole lot of living.
Life can be messy. Children can be messy. But there are always special moments and memories worth saving in all that mess.
