Bloomington, Indiana - June 27, 2021
As I waited for Brian and Eryn to arrive for our scheduled session I stood in front of the Sample Gates on IU's campus overlooking the many restaurants, shops and businesses of Kirkwood. Just as I spotted the couple walking down the hill on Indiana Ave., the rain came pouring down. I quickly tucked Zenon, my Nikon Z5, under my shirt and walked to meet them. We decided to wait out the storm in the Starbucks across the street. We laughed about their luck and reminisced on the night of their proposal about 6 months earlier. It was a cold winter day, the night before New Year's Eve, and it rained all day until Brian popped the question after a romantic carriage ride around Indianapolis. As he got down on one knee, the rain turned into snow. It was a beautiful evening but provided its own set of challenges, photography wise.
We worried we might have to weather some similar challenges this go around but the couple's luck changed as after about 15 minutes the rain finally decided to subside and the sun slowly snuck out as we made our way around campus to gather their engagement photos. Campus was absolutely showing off as the rain reflected on the brick walkways and the sun poked through the trees of Dunn Woods.
After a quick outfit change at Wylie Hall, we continued our session during the golden glow of golden hour. The two checked off an IU bucket list item and kissed under Rose Well House. Next we set up a little picnic outside of Woodburn Hall where Brian and Eryn opened a bottle of wine from their recent trip to Gatlinburg. We finished the session on one of the many wooden bridges of IU where we ran into the cutest puppy that the owner had just recently rescued.
All in all, it was a wonderful session and we had the best time! Now the two lovebirds get to countdown to their wedding day!
