Maddie and Aaron Hatchett

It was the first snow of the year - and a good snow at that - you know the one. That snow day where the snow falls in thick white blankets and immediately attaches to the grass creating a gorgeous white landscape within minutes. The one that calls to you to be a child once more making snow angels and sledding down steep hills.

Well on November 12, 2022, I didn't have time for snow angels and sledding, I was packing my equipment up to video a wedding down in Madison, Indiana, at the White Barn Venue. I bundled up, arrived at the venue and found the owners drying white fold-up chairs, and using a leaf blower to clear the aisle way of the outdoor ceremony spot. I found Maddie getting ready inside and learned that the outdoor wedding of her dreams would not be thwarted by the unexpected snow, this girl was going to get married outside - rain (read: snow) or shine!

The snow made a stunning backdrop as the rolling white hills behind the couple brightened an already special day. And with a full hot cocoa bar and more treats on the dessert table than I've seen at a wedding awaiting the guests inside, a brisk 20 minutes in the snow to see their loved ones tie the knot was worth it!

Maddie and Aaron are quite the couple - Maddie with her full belly laugh and Aaron with his sly smile - you could just tell that these two were meant to be. And their Maid of Honor and Best Man? Just as "opposites attract" as the bride and groom. From the Best Man's one sentence speech cueing laughter from the crowd to the Maid of Honor's heartfelt oration cueing tears from the same crowd, it was a beautiful reception to witness.

My favorite part of the evening was watching Maddie's mom wipe away a few tears as she watched her baby girl dance with her step-dad during the first dances. You bet your bottom dollar I got that in the video below. Don't believe me - better give it a watch!
